Southern Sweet Tea
7 Luzianna individual teabags or 3 family size
4 cups of water
1/8 teaspoon baking soda – NO more
1 1/2 cups of sugar- bump it up to 1 3/4 cups if you like your tea sweeter.
8 cups of cool filtered water (adding more or less depends how strong you like your tea)
Start 4 cups of water to boil.
Remove the boiling water from the stove. to it add the teabags. Cover the pot with a lid.
Let this steep for 15 mins.
Remove the teabags
Add the sugar and baking soda to the tea and stir until the sugar dissolves.
Pour the steeped tea into a glass heat proof pitcher; add remaining water. Stir to combine
You can pour the tea over ice now or put it in the refrigerator to chill and have later.
If you’re wondering why the baking soda. Well, its a secret 🙂 Okay, it is to remove any bitter taste and it also gives the tea a pretty golden color.
